Pre & Post Care Instructions
Preparing properly for your treatment and following your aftercare instructions are essential to achieving the best possible results. While every treatment plan is personalized, the guidelines below will help support your healing and optimize your outcome. Neurotoxin Injections
Before Your Appointment
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment.
- If approved by your healthcare provider, avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements, including aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and certain herbal supplements, for 5–7 days to help minimize bruising.
- Arrive with clean skin free of makeup when possible.
- Inform us if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a neuromuscular condition, or have recently received neurotoxin injections.
After Your Appointment
- Remain upright for at least 4 hours.
- Avoid rubbing, massaging, or applying firm pressure to the treated areas until instructed.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat, saunas, hot tubs, and alcohol for 24 hours.
- Makeup may be applied gently after several hours if needed.
- Results typically begin appearing within 3–5 days, with full results developing over approximately 14 days.
Dermal Fillers
Before Your Appointment
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment.
- If approved by your healthcare provider, avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements for approximately one week before treatment.
- Stay well hydrated.
- Reschedule your appointment if you have an active cold sore, infection, rash, or significant illness.
- Notify us if you have recently received vaccinations, dental work, or facial procedures.
After Your Appointment
- Mild swelling, bruising, tenderness, and firmness are common during the first several days.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, excessive heat, and prolonged sun exposure for 24–48 hours.
- Sleep with your head elevated the first night if swelling is expected.
- Avoid massaging the treated area unless specifically instructed.
- Stay hydrated and allow time for swelling to resolve before evaluating your final results.
- Contact our office immediately if you experience severe pain, significant discoloration, increasing swelling on one side, or any other concerning symptoms.
Biostimulatory Collagen Treatments
Before Your Appointment
- Follow the same preparation recommendations as dermal filler treatments.
- Stay well hydrated.
- Notify us of any recent illness, infection, dental procedures, or changes in your medical history.
After Your Appointment
- Mild swelling and tenderness are expected.
- Follow the massage instructions provided by your injector.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat, and alcohol for 24 hours.
- Results develop gradually over several weeks as collagen production increases.
- Multiple treatment sessions may be recommended to achieve optimal results.
Microneedling
Before Your Appointment
- Avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids, and other potentially irritating skincare products for several days before treatment.
- Avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning.
- Inform us if you have an active breakout, infection, or cold sore.
- Stay well hydrated.
After Your Appointment
- Expect redness similar to a mild sunburn for 24–72 hours.
- Keep the skin clean and moisturized using the products recommended by your provider.
- Avoid wearing makeup until instructed.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, swimming, hot tubs, saunas, and excessive sweating for at least 24 hours.
- Avoid direct sun exposure and wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen once approved by your provider.
- Do not pick, scratch, or exfoliate the treated skin while it heals.
Chemical Peels
Before Your Appointment
- Discontinue retinoids and exfoliating products several days before treatment as directed.
- Avoid waxing, laser treatments, or other exfoliating procedures for approximately one week before your peel.
- Inform us if you have an active infection, cold sore, or are taking medications that may affect skin healing.
After Your Appointment
- Leave the peel solution on for the amount of time instructed by your provider before washing.
- Peeling typically begins around days 3–5 and may continue for several days.
- Do not pull or peel loose skin.
- Use only the recommended post-treatment products.
- Avoid direct sun exposure and wear sunscreen daily.
- Avoid exfoliants, retinoids, and active skincare ingredients until your skin has completely healed.
- Keep your skin hydrated throughout the healing process.
